2026 Mansfield Timberview safety Chance Collins commits to Texas A&M
Mike Elko and the Texas A&M Aggies continue to generate positive momentum on the recruiting trail, and this time they strike close to home with a top DFW target.
Mansfield (TX) Timberview safety Chance Collins has announced his college commitment to the Maroon & White.
At 6-foot-2 and 195 pounds, Collins has been a playmaker on offense and defense at Timberview. He plays a fast and physical brand of ball on a defense known for its intensity and hard edge. He brings a rangy skillset to the back end, and his ball skills as a receiver shine through on the defensive side of the ball.
A&M’s recruiting efforts were led by safeties coach Ish Aristide, and following an April offer and a spring unofficial visit, the Aggies made a strong move into contention for his commitment.
He becomes the Aggies' 14th commitment of the 2026 recruiting class. He is the first safety, and he joins Victor Singleton and Camren Hamiel in the defensive backfield.
Leading up to his announcement, Collins also considered Texas Tech, Utah and West Virginia among his finalists, and he held offers from the likes of Arizona, Houston, Memphis, Michigan State, North Texas, Oklahoma State, Oregon State, Pitt, Sacramento State, TCU, Texas State, UTEP and UTSA. He will take his official visit to A&M the weekend of June 20.
As a junior in 2024, he posted 20 tackles, two TFLs, six interceptions and eight PBUs, and he recorded 531 all-purpose yards and two touchdowns on his way to second-team all-district and Timberview Male Athlete of the Year honors.
In addition to football, Collins is also a standout on the track. He was a state finalist in the 4x400m as a sophomore last spring and the 4x200m and 4x400m as a junior.
