North Alabama transfer guard Jacari Lane commits to Texas A&M hoops
Former North Alabama guard Jacari Lane has announced his commitment to Texas A&M.
At 6-foot and 180 pounds, Lane averaged 17.3 points, 3.2 rebounds, four assists and 1.3 steals as a junior for the Lions. He shot 42.3 percent from the field, 40.6 percent from 3-point range and 79.1 percent at the free throw line.
Bucky McMillan has some familiarity with Lane, as he dropped 32 points, six assists, six rebounds and five steals on Samford in a 97-96 overtime loss. Clearly, that performance made an impression on McMillan, as he rekindled his relationship with the Huntsville, Ala., native and brought him to College Station.
Lane’s 100-game career at North Alabama was nothing short of sensational. In his freshman year, he made the Atlantic Sun Conference’s All-Freshman team and earned A-Sun Rookie of the Year and A-Sun Sixth Man of the Year honors. He followed that up with back-to-back All-A-Sun First-Team selections and was named to the 2025 All-A-Sun Tournament team this past season.
Last year, Lane finished second in scoring, sixth in assists, sixth in steals, fourth in true shooting percentage, first in minutes played, third in offensive win shares and second in points produced across the entire A-Sun.
One of the best mid-major guards in the country slots into the starting point guard role at A&M in his final season of college basketball.
Lane arrives in Aggieland with one year of eligibility left.
