Update and thoughts on Carthage LB DaQuives Beck
I talked to a few East Texas sources over the last few days on Carthage (TX) LB DaQuives Beck and I can confirm reports he has moved his decision date up from August to July 1. He also has a top two of Texas A&M and Oklahoma.Last weekend, he took his official visit, and it sounds like the Aggies continue to make a very strong impression on him and his family. I'm told this weekend was another "great" experience in Aggieland. Terry Bussey served as his host and he also spent quality time around the guys in the linebacker room. One thing I found interesting is I was told Beck did not know KJ Edwards was heading to Texas A&M. While he may not have known Edwards choice, I do believe the thought of teaming up with his current Carthage teammate is seen as a positive for the Aggies. In the past he has talked highly of coach Bateman's coaching style and the Texas A&M defense, as well as the overall environment in College Station. He made multiple visits to College Station this spring and the Aggies have been considered a top contender since he visited at the end of January.Right now the Aggies seem to have a lot of arrows pointing their direction, but the Sooners also have some positives as well. I have been told Venables' history on the defensive side has Beck's attention as well as their LB development over the years. Danny Stutsman and former Carthage standout Kip Lewis were a few names specifically mentioned to me. We have felt the Aggies were in a pretty strong spot for awhile, and I continue to feel pretty good about Texas A&M's position as he approaches his decision.
